Markham, Ontario – Enghouse Networks announced that its Enghouse NetBoss Service Assurance solution has been successfully launched in CEM Macau’s new network operations center (NOC). CEM, as the sole provider of electrical power to the territory, initiated the project to ensure its information and communications technology (ICT) systems are delivering the highest levels of service quality at all times.
ICT is essential for electrical power companies to safely and reliably operate the electrical grid as well as for efficient corporate communications. CEM’s NOC operators are now able to proactively monitor the health and status of numerous multi-vendor ICT systems and related services from a single screen utilizing the Enghouse NetBoss fault and performance management system. Enghouse Networks trouble ticketing and workflow systems supplement the management system by enabling trouble tickets to be automatically or manually opened, assigned, and tracked until closure according on operational procedures. The out-of-the-box integration of these components enable CEM’s NOC operators to be extremely effective in responding to network events and communicating any possible effects on ICT services across the company.
Enghouse Networks also provided process re-engineering services as part of the project to enable CEM to fully realize the benefits of the new tools. The new process workflows were built into the trouble ticketing system to maximize automation in the NOC and associated field service and engineering departments.

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) is a public utility company with the sole concession to transmit, distribute and sell high, medium and low-voltage electricity in Macau. CEM also owns power generation facilities.
The Macau electricity transmission network comprises 23 primary substations, 7 customer high-voltage switching stations and 299 kilometres of 66kV, 110kV and 220kV high-voltage cables. The Macau electricity network is connected with China Southern Power Grid via four 110kV cables and six 220kV interconnections. The four 110kV interconnections are connected to Gongbei Substation and Nanping Substation, while the six 220kV interconnections are connected to Zhuhai Substations and Qinyun Substation.
The 11kV medium-voltage electricity transmission network comprises 40 customer switching stations and 1,480 customer substations (11kV/400V) connected by cables with a total length of 718 kilometres. The low-voltage transmission network is made up of 854 kilometres of cable, while the street lighting network comprises 529 kilometres of cable and about 15,000 streetlights. The power network of CEM is almost entirely comprised of underground cables.
