The importance of accurate and timely billing, centralised reporting, and automated operations for business success cannot be overstated. However, years of growth and diversification can lead to fragmentation in back-office systems and billing processes that fail to keep up with company growth strategies.
This, in time, begins to have a negative impact on revenue recognition and can hinder executive decision-making. In some instances, it can even create a situation where new products and services can’t be billed consistently and the worst nightmare of every company happens, revenue leakage.
Overcoming the challenge
Our recent webinar looks at how Uniti Fiber, a leading supplier of infrastructure solutions for telecommunication companies, dealt with this operational challenge through its partnership with Enghouse Networks.
Experts from Enghouse were joined by Greg Tapscott, Director of Revenue Assurance at Uniti Fiber, for the discussion.
From billing fragmentation to billing convergence
Through company growth and a series of acquisitions, billing systems across the company were complex and fragmented. There were seven different billing systems in place. This created a raft of operational problems and added complexities inhibiting the company’s ability to integrate new acquisitions and look towards future growth efficiently.
There were different billing cycles throughout the month and multiple taxing treatments and services that weren’t sustainable in the long run. Complexities were only likely to grow over time if Uniti Fiber didn’t address them.
The company needed to consolidate its multiple billing solutions into one single cloud-based system to overcome this. It would need to be user-friendly and intuitive while secure, easily scalable and integrable to internal systems and CRM.
Crucially, the migration plan needed to be coherent and streamlined to ensure zero risk of service interruption.
The Enghouse solution
Uniti Fiber partnered with Enghouse to help them transition from billing fragmentation to billing convergence. We helped streamline the billing operations and allow for valuable executive dashboards creation.
