Ensuring continuity is a key priority when you’re a telecommunications service provider. To do this, you need reliable solutions on hand. Any infrastructure you purchase is a long-term investment, and this will need to be modernised and upgraded as technology develops.
When a vendor discontinues a product entirely it can present challenges, forcing the telecoms company to either find a new technology or partner. They also then need to ensure an easy transition for customers and other end users.
A North African Pioneer
Almadar Aljadid is a pioneering North African telecommunications company. Established in Tripoli in 1995, it is the only wireless provider in Libya. The company provides enterprise, business, institutional, government and consumer wireless products and services 24/7 across digital channels to five million subscribers.
Despite the upheavals that have rocked the country since the mid-90s, the company retains its vision to enable personal and professional success for its customers and to be a positive force in the national economy.
Recently, the company faced the challenge of finding a new VAS vendor when their previous solution reached the end of its life. The provider had ceased investing in their platform and was not working on a replacement. This presented real difficulties for Almadar Aljadid if it was to both meet its existing service levels and look to grow its offer.
Increased Reliability and Adaptability from Enghouse
The company met with Enghouse in June 2021 and were impressed with our answers to their questions. They were particularly pleased to note that JavaScript support had been built into the system. Having been let down in the past, the company were thorough when it came to assessing the strength of our offer. Due to downtime days caused by their previous provider, they were particularly keen to ensure that Enghouse could guarantee there wouldn’t be any service interruptions.
They also wanted to explore how we could help them meet some of the specific challenges that working in Libya presented to the growth of their service. Libya is seeing a rapid increase in transactions with the rest of the world but transferring money in and out of the country can be challenging. Enghouse saw this as an opportunity rather than an obstacle, getting to work immediately on a solution.
A Breath of Fresh Air
Due to its negative experience with other suppliers, Almadar Aljadid were understandably nervous about working with a new provider. They have since commented on the level of service they have received from Enghouse, describing it as a ‘breath of fresh air’, with Enghouse’s head of training providing personal support during the rollout of the new infrastructure.
Because of the consistent, disruption-free service Enghouse has been able to provide Almadar Aljadid, their VAS and SMS service are stable and reliable. It has also allowed the company to plan more effectively and with confidence, with plans being developed to roll out more services across North Africa enabling businesses and consumers in the region to access a greater range of wireless driven opportunities.
