Together, the United States and Canada comprise of 12.2 percent of the world’s landmass. While most of the U.S. population lives on the east and west coasts, and most Canadians live within 50 miles of the southern border, a significant number of people live in rural areas of each country. The large land area and distance between cities mean that these rural populations have limited broadband connectivity options which impacts their access to education, entertainment, healthcare and work opportunities.
This webinar discusses the size of the problem, the impact that limited broadband availability has on rural consumers’ lives, and solutions to the problem. Specifically, we will discuss the activity that is underway, and the tools available, to increase rural access to broadband fiber.

For more than 19 years his work has included cadastral mapping, public utilities (water/sewer), electric distribution and now telecommunications. He is a registered Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) and licensed land surveyor (PLS) in North Carolina.
