Smart home ecosystems are becoming an increasing presence in our homes. From smart speakers, TVs, heating controls and game consoles, smart technology is finally becoming commonplace.
To reduce management overhead, increase yield and make the move to selling 5G services to the market, mobile providers are getting more and more interested in the ‘telco cloud’: the application of cloud computing approaches to telecoms so as to make the deployment of new software for infrastructure, services, operational and business processes that much more efficient.
There are now multiple solutions when it comes to delivering high-speed connectivity. As well as a fibre connection to a premises - credible alternatives exist but the costs of doing so, remain too high. LTE, 4 and 5G based fixed wireless access now offer excellent performance capabilities. In the case of 5G FWA, this is practically as good as fibre. Also, copper/DSL access is still a viable option.
Fiber backhauls the traffic from the cell site back to the rest of the mobile network. But the fiber is critical to other mobile infrastructure and extends the reach of other, high revenue services. This webinar will explore the opportunities for fiber and how new fiber networks support the key mobile network technologies: MEC; cloud RAN; 5G and digital infrastructure.
Bouygues Telecom partnered with Enghouse Networks to deploy fiber-optic infrastructure in underserved French regions, using NetDesigner to expand broadband connectivity to remote areas.
